Welcome to Colin Ingram's Web page - this is also the page for the whole Ingram family.
We live in a small village called Fenstanton near the ancient college and Fenland town of Cambridge in England. Janet and Colin are the parents and Liz (17) and Rachel (15) are the two quietly behaved daughters (NOT!) Liz is studying French, History and Politics and wants to go to university next year. Rachel is studying the X-Files and wants to make a lot of money. Colin runs Engineering at Varity Perkins, the Diesel Engine maker and wants to drive his Porsche properly. Janet studies everyone and wants the rest of us to behave.
We like to travel and Janet and Colin take in climbing and biking as well. Colin has just finished climbing all the "Wainwrights" - some 200 of the most interesting of the mountains in the English Lake District. We've also started doing the Scottish Munroes - a far more interesting proposition!!
This shows some of the analysis we do in my company. In this case, its using computer predictions of the temperature distributions inside a diesel engine from a Heavy Duty tractor in order to get more power out of the engine, while significantly reducing the emissions in the exhaust. Diesel engines are far more efficient than other power plants, and so are our best chance to reduce global warming by keeping down Carbon Dioxide emissions whilst still being able to move goods about and cultivate mechanically for food.
